Abstract
At this age, upon the threshold of the 21st century, most of the researchers agree that the new century would emerge as an era of both diversified cultural industries and cultural societies. A new paradigm for cultural exchange among nations is required to be formulated; drastic changes in knowledge and government policies concerning the local cultural industry are required to meet standards appropriate to the new century life-style.
Over the past few decades, before the IMF financial crisis in late 1997, Korea enjoyed a remarkable economic growth, earlier in the labor-intensive industries, eventually in the capital-intensive heavy industries.
